How to Create a Cron Job in cPanel

Updated 1 min read

Updated: 28 September 2026 · Applies to: cPanel & WHM 138 (Jupiter theme)

A cron job runs a command or script automatically on a schedule, for example a daily cleanup or a WordPress cron every 15 minutes.

Steps

  1. Log in to cPanel (for example at https://yourdomain.com:2083, or from the Ucartz client area).
  2. Open Advanced › Cron Jobs.
  3. Under Cron Email, enter the address that should receive the output, or leave it empty.
  4. Under Add New Cron Job, pick a schedule from Common Settings, or fill in Minute, Hour, Day, Month and Weekday yourself.
  5. Enter the Command, for example /usr/local/bin/php /home/username/public_html/cron.php.
  6. Click Add New Cron Job.

Tip: Add >/dev/null 2>&1 to the end of the command if you do not want an email every time it runs.

Note: Use full paths for both the program and the script. On shared and reseller hosting, each job may run at most once every 15 minutes (see our Acceptable Use Policy).
