WHY UCARTZ

Your Game, Your Server, Our Engineers Behind You.

Game communities, web shops and bot developers in Korea tend to know their own stack well. A Seoul server here gives you full root at the self-managed price, with engineers you can lean on when something falls outside your comfort zone.

Root, and the low price that goes with it

You run the box yourself, so you pay for the hardware and a support team, not for a management contract you may never use.

Help with the small stuff

When a mod update breaks your server config or a cron job refuses to run, ask us. Small help like that comes in most cases at no extra charge.

Book a specialist, then carry on

For bigger work, such as scaling out to more game instances, hire an engineer as an add-on for one job, a few hours or a month. When it is finished you close it and you are back to self-managed, with no lock-in.

Seoul plus anywhere else

Serve Korean players from Seoul and add servers elsewhere on the same Ucartz account and the same bill, with no second contract. See where we operate.

WHERE ARE THE SERVERS

Your Server Lives in Seoul, South Korea.

Every plan on this page runs in Seoul, the capital of South Korea and the centre of the country's internet. If your users are in Korea, a server in Seoul keeps your traffic and your data inside the country instead of sending it across the sea to another region.

  • Close to Korean users

Most of Korea's home internet users are on three networks. APNIC's 2024 review of Korea's internet puts KT at 41% of broadband subscribers, SK Broadband at 29% and LG U+ at 21%. A server in Seoul serves all of them from inside Korea.

  • Built for Korea's game market

Korea is the fourth largest game market in the world, with 23.85 trillion won in revenue in 2024, according to the 2025 Korea Game White Paper. A Seoul server is a natural home for game servers, matchmaking and community sites aimed at Korean players.

  • Korea's neutral exchange is here

Seoul is home to KINX, Korea's neutral internet exchange, founded in 1999 by a group of Korean ISPs. For routing details on our servers, ask our engineers before you order; we only publish network facts we can confirm.

  • No ICP filing needed

ICP filing is a mainland China rule. It applies only to servers located in mainland China, so a website on a Seoul server does not need an ICP licence.

DATA PROTECTION IN KOREA

Keep Korean User Data Inside Korea.

South Korea's Personal Information Protection Act, known as PIPA, is enforced by the Personal Information Protection Commission (PIPC). As a general rule, PIPA requires consent before the personal data of people in Korea is transferred to another country.

There are exceptions: when a law or treaty allows it, when outsourcing or storage abroad is disclosed in your privacy policy, when the recipient holds a recognised certification such as ISMS-P, or when the PIPC has recognised the destination as offering equivalent protection. The PIPC recognised the European Union as equivalent on 3 September 2025.

PIPA was amended again in March 2026, and most of the new provisions have been in force since 11 September 2026. Hosting on a server in Seoul keeps your users' data inside Korea, which removes the cross border transfer question for that server.

Please read this as general information rather than legal advice, and confirm your duties with a qualified adviser. Our engineers can then set up the server to suit, from the disk layout to where your backups sit.

Korea Data Compliance Checklist

  • Store the primary database in Seoul
  • Choose whether backups stay in Korea or go abroad
  • Disclose in your privacy policy each service shipping data out of Korea
  • Allow admin access only through firewall & SSH keys
  • Ask a qualified adviser about the 2026 PIPA amendment

APIs, bots and background jobs

Host scrapers, APIs, scheduled jobs and background workers on a machine that never sleeps and carries a Korean IP.

Development, staging and testing

Test how your app behaves for Korean users, or keep a staging copy of a production system close to your Korean audience.

CHOOSING A LOCATION

South Korea or Another Location?

The best location is the one closest to most of your users that also has the hardware your workload needs. Here is an honest way to choose. Unmeasured latency claims are not something we print; if latency matters to you, ask our engineers before ordering.

Choose Seoul, South Korea If...

Your workload requirements align with these core infrastructure and deployment criteria:

Hosted in Seoul

A Seoul server keeps your users' data inside Korea.

Premier Gaming Hub

Ideal matchmaking and community infrastructure for the world's 4th game market.

Unmetered Bandwidth

Direct interconnects across Seoul exchanges without mainland China ICP licensing mandates.

Dedicated Bare Metal

a whole server with SSD or SATA storage, console access on request and unmetered traffic.

Starting from $107/mo
Deploy in South Korea

Choose East & South Asia Hubs If...

Most users are in Japan, Southeast Asia, India, or mainland China:

Choose European Datacenters If...

Your business requires EU or EEA data residency and GDPR alignment:

Americas, Gulf & Global Network If...

You require trans-Pacific North American transit, Gulf connectivity, or worldwide coverage:

Still weighing it up? Talk to an engineer where your users are and you will get a straight recommendation, even if that means another location.

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers about the plans, support and billing.

Plans run from $107 to $315 a month across 6 configurations, billed monthly with no setup fee. Each plan in the table above lists its CPU, RAM, storage, bandwidth, IPs and locations.

Every plan on this page is in Seoul, South Korea. The location is fixed once the server is delivered.

Bandwidth costs more in Asia than in Europe or North America, so plans here come with a smaller traffic allowance or a slower port, or cost more for the same hardware. Check the bandwidth on each plan; if you need more traffic, ask us for a quote.

Yes, every South Korea plan includes unmetered bandwidth, so you are not billed per gigabyte transferred. Being unmetered removes usage fees; it does not remove the port limit. The port speed is fixed per plan, so ask our engineers to confirm the port speed for your plan before you order if throughput matters to you.

It makes one step easier. Under PIPA, consent is generally required before Korean users' personal data is transferred abroad, with a few exceptions. Data stored on a Seoul server stays in Korea. Compliance still depends on how the data is collected, secured and used, and that part stays with you. For advice on your own case, speak to a qualified adviser.

These are older generation Intel Xeon servers, launched between 2010 and 2013: the X5650, L5630, E3-1260L, E5-2670 and E5-2670 v2. They are proven, affordable machines for game servers, APIs, websites and background jobs in Korea. They are older machines rather than flagship hardware, and priced to match.

A quick fix is something an engineer can answer or change in a short session, such as opening a port for a new game mode or explaining an error in your logs. That kind of help comes, in most cases, at no extra charge. Anything that grows into a project, like standing up a new cluster of game servers, is scoped as an add-on and priced before work starts. Either way, the first step is a ticket in the client portal.

Choose South Korea if most of your users are in Korea. Choose our Japan servers if most are in Japan. If your audience is in China, see our China page, and remember that servers in mainland China need ICP filing while a server in Seoul does not need an ICP licence. Our engineers can help you decide.

Dedicated servers are delivered within 2 to 46 business hours of payment, depending on the location and server type. Business hours are our billing office's working hours in India (IST), excluding public holidays.

No. Dedicated servers are not covered by the 30-day money-back guarantee, because the hardware is set up for you. The conditions are in section 8 of our Terms and Conditions, so ask us before you order if you are unsure which plan fits.

No. The location is fixed when you order. To use another location, order a new server there, move your data and cancel the old one (Appendix B.8 of our terms).

Each plan in the table lists its usable IPv4 addresses. IPs are final once the server is delivered (Appendix B.7 of our terms). Extra subnets from /29 to /24 can be ordered separately, each with its own gateway.

No. These plans don't include a DDoS mitigation service. If you need one, ask us before you order and we will tell you which locations can offer it.

Yes. Port 25 is open and dedicated servers have no fixed sending limit. Spam, unsolicited mail and other mail abuse are prohibited under sections 3 and 7 of our Acceptable Use Policy.

Where the data centre offers it, IPMI or KVM console access is usually available free on request. On Supermicro servers the BMC licence for HTML5 virtual media is activated, so you can mount an ISO from your browser.

No. You are responsible for backups on a dedicated server (section 5 of our terms). Our engineers can set up a backup routine for you as on-demand work.

Yes. Every self-managed South Korea dedicated server includes Free Basic Managed Support: complimentary, best-effort help from our support team with quick tasks of about 5 minutes, such as boot and access checks, OS reinstalls, IP and DNS pointing and first-level troubleshooting. You keep full root access and control.

Yes. Hire a Ucartz engineer only when you need one, from $8 per 15 minutes or $28 per hour, or on a monthly plan. There is no long-term contract, and you can stop the extra support as soon as the work is done.

Yes. Our team deploys private LLMs, n8n workflow automation and custom build systems on your own server, then hands everything over with documentation.
