How to create a MySQL database in cPanel?

Most PHP applications, including WordPress, Joomla and Magento, store their data in a MySQL database. You need three things: a database, a database user and a password.

Steps with the Database Wizard

1. Log in to cPanel (for example at https://yourdomain.com:2083, or from the Ucartz client area).
2. Open Databases › Database Wizard.
3. Enter a database name and click Next Step. cPanel adds your username as a prefix, for example username_shop.
4. Enter a database username and a strong password, then click Create User.
5. Tick ALL PRIVILEGES and click Next Step.

Connection details for your application

• Database host: localhost
• Database name and username: the full names with the prefix, for example username_shop and username_shopuser
• Password: the one you just set

You can manage databases later in Databases › Manage My Databases and work with their contents in Databases › phpMyAdmin.
