Extra FTP accounts let designers or developers upload files without knowing your cPanel password. You can limit each one to a single folder.
Create an FTP account
- Log in to cPanel (for example at
https://yourdomain.com:2083, or from the Ucartz client area). - Open Files › FTP Accounts.
- Fill in Log In and choose the Domain. The username becomes
login@example.com. - Enter a strong password in Password and Password (Again).
- In Directory, enter the folder the account may use. Use
public_htmlfor the whole website, or a subfolder to restrict access. - Set a Quota or choose Unlimited, then click Create FTP Account.
Connect
Click Configure FTP Client next to the account for the server name and port (21), or to download a setup file for FileZilla. Use FTPS (explicit TLS) in your client where it is offered.
Note: Your cPanel username and password also work for FTP, with access to your whole home directory.
