How to Change Your VPS Hostname in Virtualizor

Updated 1 min read

Updated: 28 September 2026 · Applies to: Virtualizor VPS panel (end user)

The hostname is your VPS's name, for example server1.example.com. Use a full domain name that points to the VPS if it will send email.

Steps

  1. Log in to the Ucartz client area, open Services › My Services and click your VPS. The Virtualizor VPS dashboard is on the service page. (You can also log in to the Virtualizor panel directly with the address in your VPS welcome email and open the VPS from List VPS.)
  2. Click Hostname.
  3. Enter the new hostname and click Change Hostname.
  4. Stop and then Start the VPS from the panel so the change takes effect.

Tip: Also create an A record for the hostname in your DNS, and ask us to set the matching reverse DNS (PTR) if the VPS sends mail.
