How to Redirect a Subdomain to an External URL in cPanel

Updated 1 min read

Updated: 28 September 2026 · Applies to: cPanel & WHM 138 (Jupiter theme)

You can send everyone who visits a subdomain to another address, for example shop.example.com to an online store hosted elsewhere.

Steps

  1. Log in to cPanel (for example at https://yourdomain.com:2083, or from the Ucartz client area).
  2. Open Domains › Redirects.
  3. Choose Permanent (301) or Temporary (302).
  4. Select the subdomain in the domain list and leave the path empty.
  5. Enter the full external address in Redirects to and click Add.

Tip: If the other service asks you to point the subdomain with DNS instead (a CNAME record), use Domains › Zone Editor rather than a redirect.
