Disable Reset Password option

Updated 1 min read

Updated: 11 October 2026 · Applies to: cPanel & WHM 138 (WHM, root access)

The cPanel login page has a Reset Password link that sends a reset code to the account's contact email. Server administrators can turn this off, for example where accounts have no reliable contact address.

Steps (WHM, root)

  1. Log in to WHM as root (https://your-server:2087).
  2. Open Server Configuration › Tweak Settings and select the System tab.
  3. Set Reset Password for cPanel accounts to Off. There is a separate setting, Reset Password for Subaccounts, for email and other sub-accounts.
  4. Click Save.

Users who forget their password then need the administrator, or for Ucartz hosting customers the client area, to reset it.
