Other common causes of a slow Windows PC, and what to try:
- Fast Startup problems: turn it off (Control Panel › Power Options › Choose what the power buttons do) and test.
- Low disk space: keep at least 15 to 20% free; use Disk Clean-up or Storage Sense.
- Old hard disk: moving Windows to an SSD is the biggest speed-up for older PCs.
- Malware: run a full scan with Windows Security.
- Pending updates: install them and restart.
Note: Windows 10 is out of support since October 2025; upgrade to Windows 11 where the hardware allows.
