A slow boot after a Windows update can be caused by an outdated or incompatible graphics driver.
Steps
- Right-click Start and open Device Manager.
- Expand Display adapters, right-click your graphics card and choose Update driver › search automatically.
- For the newest driver, download it from the graphics vendor (Intel, AMD or NVIDIA) or your PC maker.
If the problem started after a driver update, choose Properties › Driver › Roll Back Driver instead.
Note: Windows 10 reached end of support in October 2025; these steps are the same on Windows 11.
