You can reject mail for addresses that do not exist on your domain with an error message of your own, so senders know their message was not delivered.
Steps
- Log in to cPanel (for example at
https://yourdomain.com:2083, or from the Ucartz client area). - Open Email › Default Address and choose the domain.
- Select Discard the email while your server processes it by SMTP time with an error message.
- Enter the message, for example
No such address here. Please check the spelling or write to info@example.com. - Click Change.
The message is rejected during delivery, so the sender's own mail server returns your text to them. Your server does not send a separate bounce email, which protects your IP reputation.
