WHM Reseller Password Reset: Your Login and Client Accounts

Updated 4 min read

Updated: 22 October 2026 · Applies to: Ucartz client area (WHMCS 9), cPanel and WHM reseller hosting (WHM 82 and later for Password Modification)

Your WHM reseller login uses the same username and password as the cPanel account of your reseller plan, so you reset it like a cPanel password: in the Ucartz client area open Services › My Services, click the reseller service and choose Change Password. The new password works for WHM and cPanel straight away. To reset the password of one of your own clients, use Password Modification in WHM.

This article is for reseller hosting customers. It covers your own WHM login and the cPanel passwords of the accounts you sell. For a single cPanel hosting account, see How to Reset Your cPanel Password from the Ucartz Client Area. For the root password of your own VPS or dedicated server, see the last section.

Reset your own WHM reseller password

  1. Log in to the Ucartz client area at https://www.ucartz.com/clients/. If you have forgotten the client area password too, click Forgot Password? on the login page first.
  2. Open Services › My Services and click your reseller hosting service.
  3. Choose Change Password.
  4. Enter the new password in New Password and again in Confirm New Password, then save.
  5. Log in to WHM with your reseller username and the new password, for example at https://example.com:2087/ (use your own domain or the server name from your welcome email).

You do not need the old password. The change also applies to the main FTP login of your reseller account. If you prefer not to use the client area, the Reset Password link on the cPanel login page works for the reseller username too, when it is enabled on the server: Forgot cPanel Password: Use the Reset Password Link at Login.

Reset a client cPanel password in WHM

When one of your customers forgets their cPanel password, you can set a new one for them without knowing the old one. The steps below come from cPanel documentation:

  1. Log in to WHM with your reseller username and password.
  2. Open Account Functions ›Password Modification.
  3. Select the customer account.
  4. Enter the new password and confirm it, or use the password generator.
  5. Click Change Password.

Leave Enable Digest Authentication unticked unless the customer connects to Web Disk from Windows over an unencrypted connection; cPanel only needs it for that case.

Send the new password to the customer through a secure channel, not in the same email as the username, and ask them to change it after logging in (How to change your cPanel password?). If the customer has a working contact email address in cPanel, they can also reset it themselves with the Reset Password link.

According to cPanel, the hosting provider can enable or disable this WHM page for resellers. If you do not see Password Modification in your WHM, open a support ticket and we will help.

What a reset does not change

Problems with the reset

No Change Password option in the client area usually means the service is suspended or not active. A refused password is usually too weak: use 16 characters or more with mixed letters, numbers and symbols. If WHM still says the login is invalid, your IP address may be blocked after earlier failed attempts. These cases are covered in cPanel Password Reset Not Working: Causes and Fixes.

Root WHM on your own VPS or dedicated server

A reseller plan has no root login. On your own server with cPanel and WHM, root changes passwords differently:

Official documentation: Password Modification (cPanel).
