cPanel can create a full account backup and send it straight to another server over FTP, so the copy does not use your hosting disk space.

Before you start

You need the FTP server's address, username, password, port (usually 21) and the folder where the backup should go.

Steps

  1. Log in to cPanel (for example at https://yourdomain.com:2083, or from the Ucartz client area).
  2. Open Files › Backup and click Download a Full Account Backup.
  3. Set Backup Destination to Remote FTP Server (or Remote FTP Server (Passive Mode Transfer) if the remote server is behind a firewall).
  4. Enter the email address for the completion notice.
  5. Fill in Remote Server, Remote User, Remote Password, Port and Remote Dir.
  6. Click Generate Backup. You will get an email when the transfer has finished or failed.

Tip: If the transfer fails, try passive mode first. Most failures come from a wrong remote folder or a firewall on the receiving server.
