phpMyAdmin can export a database to a .sql file, which you can keep as a backup or import into another server. It is available in cPanel and in Plesk.
Steps
- Open phpMyAdmin: in cPanel from Databases › phpMyAdmin; in Plesk from Databases › phpMyAdmin next to the database.
- Click the database name in the left panel.
- Open the Export tab.
- Keep the Quick method and the SQL format, then click Export (Go in older versions).
Use the Custom method to choose tables, add DROP TABLE statements, or compress the file with gzip.
Tip: For large databases, the cPanel Files › Backup page is more reliable: under Download a MySQL Database Backup, click the database name to download a compressed copy.
