cPanel's Spam Filters use Apache SpamAssassin to give every incoming message a spam score. You decide what happens above a certain score.
Turn on spam filtering
- Log in to cPanel (for example at
https://yourdomain.com:2083, or from the Ucartz client area). - Open Email › Spam Filters.
- Switch on Process New Emails and Mark them as Spam. Spam gets
***SPAM***added to the subject. - Optionally switch on Move New Spam to a Separate Folder (Spam Box), so spam goes to a spam folder instead of your inbox.
- Optionally switch on Automatically Delete New Spam (Auto-Delete) and choose a score. Use a high score, such as 8 or more, so real mail is not deleted.
Fine-tune it
- Spam Threshold Score: lower scores catch more spam but also more good mail. The default of 5 suits most mailboxes.
- Whitelist (Emails the filter should always allow): add senders that are wrongly marked.
- Blacklist (Emails the filter should always mark as spam): add persistent spammers.
For strict protection you can also use Email › BoxTrapper, which holds mail from unknown senders until they confirm they are human.
