Updated: 11 October 2026 · Applies to: WHMCS 9.0 (self-hosted)

These are the requirements for self-hosted WHMCS 9.0, the current version (WHMCS 8.13 is the long-term support release). The old PHP 5 and MySQL 4 requirements no longer apply.

  • Operating system and web server: Linux with Apache 2.x and mod_rewrite (Nginx works but WHMCS supports it only in a limited way).
  • PHP: 8.2 or 8.3.
  • ionCube Loader: 13.0.2 or newer for PHP 8.2, 14.4.0 or newer for PHP 8.3.
  • PHP extensions: cURL (with SSL), GD, IMAP, JSON, PDO and PDO_MySQL (built with mysqlnd), BC Math, Fileinfo, GMP, iconv, Intl, mbstring, OpenSSL (TLS 1.2+), SOAP, XML and Reflection.
  • PHP memory limit: at least 64 MB; 128 MB recommended.
  • Database: MySQL 8.x recommended; MariaDB is widely used as a compatible alternative.
  • Cron: a system cron job for WHMCS's automation tasks.

On Ucartz hosting

Our cPanel servers meet these requirements: choose PHP 8.3 in Software › MultiPHP Manager, and the ionCube Loader and required extensions are available. For busy WHMCS installations we recommend a VPS or dedicated server.

Tip: Check the release notes before every WHMCS upgrade: new versions can raise the PHP and ionCube requirements.
