Our cPanel servers run Apache 2.4 through cPanel's EasyApache 4, kept up to date with cPanel's security releases. Some servers use LiteSpeed, which reads the same .htaccess rules.
To see the exact web server on your account, open Server Information in cPanel (in the General Information panel), or check the Server header in your browser's developer tools.
On a VPS or dedicated server you can choose and configure Apache, Nginx or LiteSpeed yourself.
