Centova Cast v3 is a web control panel for hosting internet radio streams (SHOUTcast and Icecast, with Liquidsoap AutoDJ). These are the requirements, including what our administrators found when installing it on current systems.
Operating system
- AlmaLinux 9: tested by Ucartz administrators and installs without errors. We recommend it for new servers.
- Debian: stable releases are supported by Centova.
- AlmaLinux 8: in our tests, Liquidsoap and some other components failed because of dependency problems.
- Rocky Linux and Ubuntu: can work, but components such as Liquidsoap and Icecast may fail to install because of package differences; expect manual work.
- CentOS 6/7: end of life; do not use for new installations.
Hardware
- CPU: 1 GHz or faster; more for many streams or transcoding.
- RAM: 1 GB minimum, 2 GB or more recommended for several streams.
- Disk: at least 10 GB, plus space for AutoDJ media and logs.
- Bandwidth: listeners × bitrate. For example, 100 listeners at 128 kbps need about 12.8 Mbps; use our radio bandwidth calculator.
Software
- Database: MariaDB 10.3+ or MySQL 5.7+ must be installed before you run the Centova Cast installer (see "How to install and configure MariaDB in CentOS / RHEL 7?").
- Web interface: the installer sets up the web server and PHP that Centova Cast uses.
- Streaming software: SHOUTcast DNAS v2, Icecast 2 and Liquidsoap are installed by the installer when you choose them.
- Licence: a Centova Cast licence key, and a hostname (A record) pointing to the server for HTTPS.
Ports
Open 2199 (web interface), 2197 and the range for your streams (for example 8000 to 10000); see "How should I configure my firewall to allow access to Centova Cast?".
