If you see this message:

Cluster host connection failure for Local server: Connection refused (111)

the cc-control process has exited. Work through these steps before escalating.

1. Check whether it is simply stopped

/etc/init.d/centovacast start

If it starts and the problem does not come back, you are done; nothing more to diagnose. If it gives an error on this attempt, send that error to support directly; there is no need to troubleshoot further yourself at that point.

2. Check why it is not restarting on its own

Centova Cast's own cron job normally restarts cc-control within 60 seconds of any exit. If it stays down longer than a minute, the likely cause is either a broken cron job or a firewall blocking local access to port 2198. Check your cron logs (/var/log/cron or /var/log/messages) to see why the /etc/init.d/centovacast check job (configured in /etc/cron.d/centovacast) is not running correctly.

3. If it is genuinely crashing, collect a core dump

Only continue here if cc-control keeps crashing on its own, not just failing to restart. After enabling core dumps below, you must wait until the next real crash; nothing to collect until then.

First, update to the latest Centova Cast build. The data a core dump captures depends on values baked into the exact executable, so it is only useful if it matches the build you are actually running; update even if you believe you are already current:

/usr/local/centovacast/sbin/update

Enable core dumps, as root:

/usr/local/centovacast/sbin/enable_coredumps start

Wait for the next crash, then check /var/spool/coredumps for a file named core.cc-control_*. Once one appears, compress it and attach it to a support ticket.

Afterward, turn core dumps back off:

/usr/local/centovacast/sbin/enable_coredumps stop

Recent Centova Cast builds detect and recover from a control daemon crash automatically, restarting cc-control within a minute or two, often without you noticing. Check the debug log periodically to see whether a crash was recorded even when nothing seemed wrong.
