A MIME type tells the browser how to handle a file extension, for example serving a custom font or video format with the right content type. You can add one yourself in cPanel without touching server configuration files.
- Log in to cPanel.
- Under the Advanced section, open MIME Types.
- In the Create a MIME Type box, enter the MIME type (for example application/font-woff2) and the file extension without the leading dot. You can list more than one extension, separated by spaces, according to cPanel's documentation.
- Click Add.
You can only remove MIME types you added yourself; the System MIME Types cPanel ships with cannot be deleted. If a custom type you add matches an extension already in the system list, your entry overrides it for that extension.
If this option is missing from your account, your hosting provider may have hidden it; if you host with Ucartz and need it enabled, open a support ticket.
