No, not in any form you can use today. Centova Cast v3 is a Linux control panel for SHOUTcast DNAS and Icecast servers. Centova designed a Windows add-on for Windows Media Services (WMS), but its own documentation still says the Windows daemon "is not yet available for download", and it was written for Windows Server 2003 and 2008, which Microsoft no longer supports. For an internet radio station, use Shoutcast or Icecast with Centova Cast. For video, use a video streaming server such as Flussonic Media Server or Wowza Streaming Engine.

What Centova says about Windows Media Services

  • Centova Cast v3 FAQ: a Windows-based component for WMS "has been developed" and is "currently being updated to support the latest WMS release", with no release date.
  • Windows Control Daemon guide: the daemon "is not yet available for download, but will be released soon". It would only add WMS streams on a separate Windows server; the Centova Cast web interface itself always runs on a Linux server. The listed requirements are Windows 2003 or Windows 2008 with Windows Media Services 9 or later.
  • Order page: Centova's package builder lists a "Windows Media Services" station type, with the note that Windows support is an add-on, not a standalone solution, and that you need an existing Centova Cast installation on Linux first. Ask Centova exactly what it delivers before you order it.
  • General FAQ: Centova explains that it cannot add Windows Media streaming to the Linux product because no Windows Media server software exists for Linux.

The streaming servers Centova Cast does support are SHOUTcast DNAS v2.x and v1.9.8 and Icecast v2.x, according to Centova's system requirements.

Windows Media Services itself is discontinued

According to Microsoft, development of WMS stopped with Windows Media Services 2008 R2. WMS is supported on Windows Server 2008 and 2008 R2 only, and not on Windows Server 2012, 2012 R2 or 2016. Its successor, IIS Media Services, is not supported on Windows Server 2016 either. Windows Server 2008 and 2008 R2 are past the end of their support, including the paid Extended Security Updates. So even a working Centova daemon would need an operating system that no longer receives security fixes.

What to use instead

Audio and internet radio

Shoutcast or Icecast with Centova Cast covers the usual needs of a radio station: live shows from an encoder, AutoDJ playlists when nobody is live, listener statistics and a web player. Since Centova Cast 3.2.14, the panel also supports TLS for Shoutcast and Icecast and includes an HTML5 audio player, so listeners can tune in from a browser without a plug-in. Not sure which server to pick? See the difference between SHOUTcast and Icecast.

To move a station from WMS:

  1. Create the Shoutcast or Icecast stream in Centova Cast (see how to set up a new stream with AutoDJ in Centova).
  2. Point your live encoder at the new server, or upload your music for AutoDJ.
  3. Replace the old Windows Media links on your website with the new stream URL (see how to find your stream URL in Centova Cast) and add a web player.

Ucartz runs this as Shoutcast and Icecast radio hosting with AutoDJ, as white-label Shoutcast reseller hosting, or on a Centova Cast dedicated server with the Centova Cast licence included.

Video

Centova Cast is built around radio servers, so for live TV, events or video on demand use a video streaming server. Flussonic Media Server is the base of Flussonic's products for video ingest, recording and delivery (see installing Flussonic), and Wowza Streaming Engine handles live and on-demand video. Ucartz offers video streaming hosting on servers for live and on-demand video.
