How to clear a Cpanel/WHM transfer session which is not able to abort directly from WHM

Sometimes an account transfer in WHM's Transfer Tool stops responding and cannot be aborted from the interface. As root, you can check and abort the session with the WHM API.

Steps

1. Find the session ID. It is shown in WHM under Transfers › Review Transfers and Restores and in the address of the transfer progress page (transfer_session_id=...).
2. Log in to the server as root over SSH and check its state:

   whmapi1 get_transfer_session_state transfer_session_id=SESSION_ID

3. Abort it:

   whmapi1 abort_transfer_session transfer_session_id=SESSION_ID

4. Wait a minute and check the state again. Then start a new transfer if needed.

Note: An aborted transfer can leave a partially restored account on the destination server. Check the account before you start again, and remove the incomplete copy if necessary.
