Can the Centova Cast Web Interface Be Rebranded? What You Can Change With and Without Root

Updated 5 min read

Updated: 8 October 2026 · Applies to: Centova Cast v3 (3.3.4, from Centova documentation); backup and diff commands tested on Debian 13 (GNU tar 1.35, GNU diffutils 3.10)

Yes. According to Centova, you are allowed to rebrand Centova Cast. Resellers can set their own logo, sender address and notification emails in the panel, and server owners with root access can change logos, colours, layout and menus by editing the theme files on the server. Centova does not support template or CSS changes, or problems caused by them, and warns that changes can cause faults that look unrelated. Centova may also stop supporting an installation if it decides your changes interfere with how Centova Cast works.

What you can change at each account level

Stream owners (client accounts)

  • You cannot rebrand the panel itself. Under Configuration > Settings you can set your stream title and the panel language (Locale, on the Stream tab).
  • On your own website, the Centova Cast widgets (Configuration > Widgets) can be styled with your own CSS; Centova documents CSS classes such as .cc_streaminfo for this.

Resellers (no root access needed)

  • Logo: on the Reseller Options tab of your Settings page, under Branding, the Logo image is shown in your clients' control panels instead of your provider's logo. Step by step: How to apply your own logo to Centova Cast.
  • Sender address: the Sender E-mail address on the same tab.
  • Notification emails: under Settings > E-mails you can edit the subject, text and HTML of every message. Keep the placeholders that are already there, such as {$account.username}, and use Preview before saving.
  • Your own domain: point an A record (or a CNAME) for your domain to the Centova Cast web interface, and your clients log in at your domain on port 2199. See reseller domains with Centova Cast.

Our Shoutcast reseller hosting is white label, so you can sell it under your own brand with your own logo.

Centova Cast administrator (admin login)

  • Under Settings > Settings, the General tab sets the Site name and the Sender E-mail address used on emails to clients.
  • Settings > E-mails edits every message Centova Cast sends to administrators and clients.

Server owners with root access

  • Logos: PNG files in /usr/local/centovacast/web/theme/images/ (details).
  • Look and layout: the theme files in /usr/local/centovacast/web/theme/. According to Centova, style.css controls most of the client, reseller and admin areas, login.css the login page and playlist.css the playlist editor, while templates/page.tpl and templates/login.tpl hold the HTML layout. Most rebranding needs only these files.
  • Menus: /usr/local/centovacast/web/menu.php defines the admin, reseller and client menus as PHP arrays, so some PHP knowledge is needed. Keep a copy of your edited file, because Centova does not say that updates preserve it.
  • System templates in /usr/local/centovacast/web/system/templates/ drive the internal pages. Centova strongly recommends not changing them.

How to change theme files safely (root)

  1. Back up the whole theme folder first, and keep an unpacked copy of the stock files to compare against later:
    tar -czf /root/centova-theme-$(date +%F).tar.gz -C /usr/local/centovacast/web theme
    cp -a /usr/local/centovacast/web/theme /root/theme-stock
  2. Do not edit templates in place. Create a custom folder next to them and edit a copy there. According to Centova, a template in custom/ overrides the original and is kept when you upgrade:
    cd /usr/local/centovacast/web/theme/templates
    mkdir -p custom
    cp login.tpl custom/login.tpl
  3. Give your own CSS and image files new names (for example mybrand.css) and reference them from your custom templates. Centova upgrades overwrite modified image and CSS files, but not files with names of your own.
  4. After each update, compare the old stock templates in /root/theme-stock with the new ones to see what Centova changed, and carry those changes into your custom copies:
    diff -u /root/theme-stock/templates/login.tpl /usr/local/centovacast/web/theme/templates/login.tpl
Centova warns that if you do not update your custom templates after an upgrade, parts of the interface may stop working. When you have finished, replace /root/theme-stock with a fresh copy so the next comparison starts from the new version.
  5. Test the result as admin, as a reseller, as a client and on the login page.

For small changes such as the logo, a postupdate script that copies your files back after every update is simpler; the logo article has a tested example.

Who does the work

On shared radio hosting and reseller accounts the theme files belong to the whole server, so they cannot be changed for one customer; open a support ticket if you have a question about branding on your account. On a Centova Cast dedicated server you have full root access and can make these changes yourself, or our engineers can do the customisation as a paid task through Hire an Expert. Keep a note of every file you change, so you can switch back to the stock files when troubleshooting.
