Updated: 28 September 2026 · Applies to: Google Workspace and cPanel & WHM 138 (Zone Editor)

If your domain uses the nameservers of your Ucartz cPanel hosting, you add the DNS records that Google Workspace needs (MX, SPF, DKIM, DMARC and the domain verification record) in cPanel's Zone Editor. If your domain uses other nameservers, for example Cloudflare or your registrar's, add the same records there instead. The records themselves are identical.

If the names shown belong to your hosting server, follow this guide. Otherwise use the DNS panel of the provider that the names point to.

Open the Zone Editor

  1. Log in to cPanel (for example at https://yourdomain.com:2083, or from the Ucartz client area).
  2. Open Domains › Zone Editor and click Manage next to the domain.
  3. Click the arrow next to + Add Record to choose the record type.

1. MX record

First delete the existing MX records of the domain (the old mail server), then add:

  1. Choose MX.
  2. Name: your domain (example.com.). Priority: 1. Destination: smtp.google.com.
  3. Click Save Record.

More on this record and what Google expects: How to set up Google Workspace MX records for your domain?. General steps for MX records in cPanel: How to Add an MX Record in cPanel DNS Zone Editor.

2. Tell the server that mail is handled elsewhere

  1. In cPanel open Email › Email Routing.
  2. Select the domain and choose Remote Mail Exchanger.
  3. Save.

Without this step the hosting server keeps delivering mail that is sent from your own website to local mailboxes that no longer exist, and it never reaches Google.

3. SPF record (TXT)

  1. Choose TXT.
  2. Name: your domain (example.com.). Record: v=spf1 include:_spf.google.com ~all
  3. Click Save Record. If the domain already has an SPF record, edit it instead of adding a second one (How to set up an SPF record for Google Workspace?).

4. DKIM record (TXT)

  1. Generate the key in the Google Admin console first (How to set up DKIM for Google Workspace?).
  2. Choose TXT. Name: google._domainkey.example.com. Record: the long value that starts with v=DKIM1.
  3. Click Save Record, wait, then click Start authentication in the Admin console.

5. DMARC record (TXT)

  1. Choose TXT. Name: _dmarc.example.com. Record: v=DMARC1; p=none; rua=mailto:dmarc@example.com
  2. Click Save Record. Details and how to tighten the policy: How to set up DMARC for Google Workspace?.

6. Domain verification record (TXT), if Google asks for it

To prove that you own the domain, Google may show a TXT value that begins with google-site-verification=. Add it as a TXT record with the name example.com., save it, and click Verify in the Admin console. The steps are the same as in How to verify your domain in Google Search Console using cPanel Zone Editor. Keep the record afterwards.

Frequently asked questions

The Name field: with or without a dot at the end?
In cPanel's Zone Editor the full name ends with a dot (example.com.). If you enter only google._domainkey, cPanel usually adds the domain itself; check the saved record in the list.

How long until the records work?
Google names up to 72 hours for MX records and up to 48 hours for SPF and DKIM. Often it is much faster; check with the dig commands above.

I have no access to cPanel.
Ask the person who manages your hosting, or open a support ticket with the exact records you need.
