Updated: 4 November 2026 · Applies to: Centova Cast 3.x (root access)
The Centova Cast update command is /usr/local/centovacast/sbin/update. On its own it updates every installed part. Add a part name to update only that part, --force to reinstall even when nothing is newer, and --add to install an extra package. This page is the reference for those options; for the full update procedure with backups and checks, see How to Update Centova Cast.
Update everything
/usr/local/centovacast/sbin/update
Update one part
Give the part name as the first parameter. For example, this updates only the Centova Cast web server:
/usr/local/centovacast/sbin/update web
To list the part names installed on your server, run this loop. It reads each package file in /usr/local/centovacast/etc/update.d/ and prints its name and title:
for f in /usr/local/centovacast/etc/update.d/*.update; do
. "$f"; echo "${DATADIR/cc-/} - $TITLE"
done
Force a reinstall
The utility skips a package when no newer version exists. --force installs it again anyway, which helps when files may be damaged. It works for everything or for one part:
/usr/local/centovacast/sbin/update --force
/usr/local/centovacast/sbin/update --force web
Add a package
--add installs software that Centova Cast can manage but that is not installed yet. According to Centova, the package names include shoutcast2, icecast, liquidsoap and geolitecity. For example:
/usr/local/centovacast/sbin/update --add icecast
Run your own scripts before and after an update
An update replaces the panel files, so changes you made to the theme are lost unless you save and restore them. Centova Cast runs these two scripts if they exist and are executable:
/usr/local/centovacast/sbin/preupdate: runs before the update./usr/local/centovacast/sbin/postupdate: runs after the update.
Both are ordinary scripts that start with a shebang line. This pair keeps a custom login logo. The preupdate script:
#!/bin/sh mkdir -p /usr/local/centovacast/var/preupdate_backup cp -f /usr/local/centovacast/web/theme/images/login-logo.png /usr/local/centovacast/var/preupdate_backup/
The postupdate script:
#!/bin/sh cp -f /usr/local/centovacast/var/preupdate_backup/login-logo.png /usr/local/centovacast/web/theme/images/
Make both executable:
chmod 755 /usr/local/centovacast/sbin/preupdate /usr/local/centovacast/sbin/postupdate
