On shared hosting, many accounts share one server. If one account uses too much CPU, memory, disk activity or database time, every site on the server slows down. That is what we mean by resource abuse; it is separate from bandwidth (data transfer).
Our limits
Each shared hosting account is limited by CloudLinux to up to 1 CPU core, 1 GB RAM, 20 entry processes, 100 processes, 10 MB/s disk I/O and 300,000 inodes. Accounts must not use 25% or more of the server's resources for longer than 90 seconds, database queries must not run longer than 30 seconds, and cron jobs may run at most every 15 minutes. The full rules are in our Acceptable Use Policy.
What happens
When an account hits its limits, its site slows down or shows 503/508 errors, while other sites stay fast. In serious or repeated cases, we contact you and may pause the account until the cause is fixed.
What you can do
- Check Resource Usage in cPanel to see which limit is reached.
- Use caching, remove heavy plugins and fix slow queries.
- For busy sites, move to a higher plan or a VPS.
