If a folder has no index.html or index.php, the web server may show a list of its files. Turn this off so visitors cannot browse your folders.
Steps
- Log in to cPanel (for example at
https://yourdomain.com:2083, or from the Ucartz client area). - Open Advanced › Indexes (called Index Manager in older versions).
- Click the folder name to open it, or click Edit next to the folder you want to change. Setting it on
public_htmlcovers the whole website. - Choose No Indexing.
- Click Save.
The other options are Default System Setting, Show Filename Only and Show Filename and Description. cPanel stores your choice in the folder's .htaccess file as Options -Indexes.
