If images will not upload (for example in WordPress), check these causes. Do not set folders to 0777: that is a security risk, and many servers refuse to run sites with world-writable folders.

  • Permissions: upload folders such as wp-content/uploads should be 755, and files 644.
  • Size limits: the file may be larger than PHP's upload_max_filesize or post_max_size; raise them in Software › MultiPHP INI Editor.
  • Disk quota: a full account cannot save uploads; check the disk usage in cPanel.
  • Image library: WordPress needs the gd or imagick PHP extension to resize images.

WordPress's Tools › Site Health page shows most of these problems.
