"Error establishing a database connection" (or a similar message) means your website cannot log in to its database.
Check, in this order
- The details in your application's configuration file (for WordPress,
DB_NAME,DB_USER,DB_PASSWORDandDB_HOSTinwp-config.php) match the database and user in Databases › Manage My Databases, including theusername_prefix. - The user is added to the database with privileges.
- The host is
localhoston our cPanel hosting. - The database is not damaged: in Databases › Manage My Databases, use Check Database and Repair Database.
If everything is correct and the error continues, the database server may be busy or down; open a support ticket.
