How it works
From order to your first site served by Apache.
- 1
Choose a plan
Order the KVM VPS package that fits your sites and pay at checkout.
- 2
Automatic deployment
Our control panel creates the VPS in about a minute once the order is approved. Your login details arrive by email.
- 3
Ask for your free setup
Open a Technical Support ticket from the client area with your first domain. Our engineers set up Apache with standard settings.
- 4
Add your sites
Upload your first site and add more virtual hosts whenever you need them. Free Basic Managed Support covers quick tasks after that.
What the free Apache setup covers
A standard Apache and PHP web server with your first site. Anything beyond it is optional and billed only for the time used.
Included free
- Apache HTTP Server 2.4 with PHP-FPM and MariaDB
- A virtual host for your first domain, with its own document root and log files
- HTTPS for that domain with a free Let’s Encrypt certificate
- mod_rewrite enabled, so your .htaccess rules work
Custom work, billed by time
From $8 per 15 minutes or $28 per hour, only for the time used. No contract.
- Adding more sites and domains for you (or add them yourself)
- Moving sites from shared hosting or another server
- Separate PHP versions, users and permissions per site
- Tuning Apache and PHP for high traffic
How Apache virtual hosting works
Apache’s name-based virtual hosts let one server and one IP address answer for many domains. Apache reads the host name each browser asks for and serves the matching site from its own folder, with its own logs and settings.
HTTPS works the same way. With Server Name Indication (SNI), every site on the VPS can have its own SSL certificate on the same IP address, and Let’s Encrypt certificates are free.
Running PHP through PHP-FPM keeps PHP processes separate from Apache and lets you give a busy site its own pool of workers.
| Current Apache release | Apache HTTP Server 2.4.68 |
|---|---|
| Sites per IP address | Many, with name-based virtual hosts |
| HTTPS | A certificate per site on the same IP address, using SNI |
| PHP | PHP-FPM, with a separate pool per site when you need one |

What people host with Apache virtual hosts
Agency client sites
Each client’s site in its own folder, database and log files on one server.
PHP applications
Laravel, Symfony or custom PHP apps next to your marketing site.
Static sites
HTML landing pages and documentation served with very little memory.
Staging and development
A test subdomain for each project on the same VPS.
Moving off shared hosting
Several shared-hosting sites brought together on one server you control.
Older sites
Sites that rely on .htaccess rules and Apache modules.
