"LibClamAV Error: No supported database files found" means ClamAV has no virus definitions yet, so scanners that use it (such as Linux Malware Detect / maldet) cannot run.
Fix (root)
- Download the virus database:
freshclam
- On cPanel servers with cPanel's ClamAV plugin, use its own path:
/usr/local/cpanel/3rdparty/bin/freshclam
- Update maldet's signatures and try again:
maldet -u.
If freshclam fails, check that the server can reach the ClamAV mirrors (outgoing HTTPS) and that /var/lib/clamav is writable by the ClamAV user.
