404 error on wordpress website for litespeed webserver

If WordPress pages other than the home page show "404 Not Found" on a LiteSpeed server, the rewrite rules in .htaccess are missing or damaged.

Fix

1. Make sure .htaccess in the WordPress folder contains the standard WordPress block:

   RewriteRule ^index\.php$ - [L]
   RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
   RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d

   </IfModule>
   # END WordPress

2. In WordPress, go to Settings › Permalinks and click Save Changes to refresh the rules.

LiteSpeed reads .htaccess changes after a short delay or a restart; if the problem stays, ask support.
