Jailed SSH access gives you a command line limited to your own hosting account. You can run commands on your files and databases, but cannot see other customers' data or change the server.
- Shared hosting: every cPanel account has Advanced › Terminal, a jailed command line in your browser. You can also connect with an SSH client using SSH keys.
- VPS and dedicated servers: full root access to the whole server.
With a jailed shell you can use tools such as git, composer, php, mysql, wget and zip, but not sudo or anything that needs root.
