Updated: 28 September 2026 · Applies to: cPanel & WHM 138 (root)

Some cPanel & WHM errors are fixed by updating (or re-running the update of) cPanel itself.

Steps (root)

  1. Log in to the server as root over SSH.
  2. Run the update:
    /usr/local/cpanel/scripts/upcp
  3. To reinstall the current version even if it is up to date, add --force:
    /usr/local/cpanel/scripts/upcp --force

The update log is in /var/cpanel/updatelogs/. Set automatic updates in WHM › Server Configuration › Update Preferences.
