ODBC lets PHP connect to databases through an ODBC driver, for example Microsoft SQL Server. On a cPanel server with EasyApache 4, install the PHP ODBC extension for each PHP version that needs it.

With WHM

  1. Log in to WHM as root (https://your-server:2087).
  2. Open Software › EasyApache 4 and click Customize on the current profile.
  3. Go to PHP Extensions, search for odbc and switch on php-odbc for the PHP versions you need.
  4. Click Review, then Provision.

From the command line

dnf install ea-php83-php-odbc unixODBC    # AlmaLinux / Rocky Linux / CloudLinux
/usr/local/cpanel/scripts/restartsrv_apache_php_fpm

Replace 83 with your PHP version. You also need the ODBC driver for your database, for example Microsoft's msodbcsql18 package for SQL Server, configured in /etc/odbcinst.ini.

Check with /opt/cpanel/ea-php83/root/usr/bin/php -m | grep -i odbc.
