How to enable SSL with the custom Hostname on CentovaCast?

Updated 2 min read

Updated: 22 October 2026 · Applies to: Centova Cast, native TLS on a custom hostname

Centova Cast supports using your own hostname with SSL/TLS on a stream.

Requirements

  • A domain or subdomain you control.
  • An SSL certificate and its private key for that hostname.

First, point the hostname at your Centova server's IP, either by creating an A record for it in your domain's DNS, or through your web hosting control panel if that is where the domain's DNS is managed.

Set up TLS on the account

  1. Log in to your Centova account as a reseller or admin.
  2. List the accounts under your Centova installation.
  3. Select the stream username you want to set the hostname and SSL for.
  4. Under that station's radio settings, change the hostname to the one you pointed at the Centova server's IP above.
  5. Go to the SSL/TLS tab and set Enable native TLS to Yes.
  6. Paste the SSL certificate followed by the CA bundle into Certificate chain.
  7. Paste the certificate's private key into Certificate private key.
  8. Click Test TLS configuration to confirm the certificate is valid and matches the hostname.
  9. Click Update to save, then restart the station.

Once native TLS is working, new TLS tune-in links appear under the station's Quick Links section.

Use the TLS tune-in links (not the old plain-HTTP ones) when sharing your stream going forward, since browsers increasingly block or warn on mixed-content audio players that try to load a plain HTTP stream from an HTTPS page.
