Updated: 8 October 2026 · Applies to: Centova Cast v3 (current release 3.3.4, from Centova documentation); mount point behaviour tested with Icecast 2.4.4 on Debian 13

A mount point is the path at the end of a stream address, such as /stream in http://radio.example.com:8000/stream. In Centova Cast you manage mount points under Configuration > Settings > Mount Points tab: Create new adds one, clicking a mount point in the list opens it for editing (its name is the Mount point field on Icecast, Stream path on SHOUTcast v2), and Remove deletes it. Renaming a mount point changes your listeners' stream address, so old links stop working unless you plan for it (below). To change the station name that players display, see changing the stream name in Centova Cast instead.

What a mount point is

  • One Icecast or SHOUTcast v2 server can carry several mount points, each a separate broadcast. Centova's manual describes mount point options for these two server types only.
  • According to Centova, /stream should always exist and be your default mount point, and every name must begin with a forward slash.
  • A mount point is either independent (for a live source) or uses the AutoDJ. An account has only one AutoDJ, so AutoDJ mount points rebroadcast the same programme, for example at a different bit rate. The combined bit rates of your mount points may not exceed your account's maximum.
  • The administrator sets how many you may create with the Mount point limit on the account's Limits tab.

How the mount point appears in listener links

The mount point is the last part of every tune-in link. Icecast's own status page showed this listener address for our test station, before and after we moved the source to a mount called /live:

http://radio.example.com:8000/stream
http://radio.example.com:8000/live

Your Centova Cast Quick Links page shows the current tune-in links (see tune-in links and how to test them).

Add or rename a mount point

  1. Log in to Centova Cast, click Settings under Configuration and open the Mount Points tab.
  2. To add one, click Create new below the list. To rename one, click it in the list.
  3. Type the name, starting with /, for example /live. On the AutoDJ Settings tab choose whether it uses the AutoDJ.
  4. Save, then stop and start the stream under Server so the streaming server picks up the change. Stopping disconnects current listeners, so pick a quiet moment.
  5. Update every place that uses the old link: website player, apps, directory listings, and the encoder of any live DJ who broadcasts to that mount point.

What changes for listeners

We tested this with Icecast, the streaming server behind Centova's Icecast accounts:

  • Connected listeners are dropped. A listener on /stream was disconnected the moment the source on that mount stopped:
    exit after 2.923935s, bytes=78400
    curl exit code 0
  • The old link returns 404 once nothing streams on it, while the new one plays:
    old link:
    404
    new link:
    200 bytes=46200
  • Players that saved the old address fail until the listener updates it, and you cannot update those yourself.

Keep old links working

Icecast: keep the old mount point and, on its Fallback Mount tab, set Fallback mount point to the new one. According to Centova, Icecast then redirects listeners to the fallback when the old mount point has no source. In our test, the old link played the new mount's audio once the fallback was set:

old link with fallback:
HTTP/1.0 200 OK
Content-Type: audio/mpeg
icy-name:Test Radio

SHOUTcast v2: Centova lists no fallback option for SHOUTcast v2 mount points. You can keep the old stream path with Use autoDJ set to Yes so it rebroadcasts the AutoDJ, but it then counts towards your total bit rate.

If something does not work

  • You cannot create another mount point: the account's mount point limit is reached. Ask your host to raise it.
  • A live DJ cannot connect: their encoder still uses the old mount name, or the mount has its own source username and password on the Setting Overrides tab.
  • The station name looks wrong on one mount: check that mount's Metadata Overrides tab, as described in changing the stream name.

If your Ucartz Shoutcast and Icecast hosting account uses Centova Cast and you need more mount points than your panel allows, open a support ticket.
