Back up your website before updates, redesigns or plugin changes, and keep regular copies somewhere other than your hosting account.
Back up with the Backup Wizard
- Log in to cPanel (for example at
https://yourdomain.com:2083, or from the Ucartz client area). - Open Files › Backup Wizard and click Back Up.
- Choose Full Backup (everything, as one archive you can give to support for a restore) or Partial Backup.
- For a partial backup, choose Home Directory (website files), MySQL Databases or Email Forwarders & Filters, and download the file.
- For a full backup, set the destination to Home Directory, enter an email address and click Generate Backup. Download it from Files › Backup when you get the email.
Which backup do I need?
- To restore files and databases yourself: download the Home Directory backup and each MySQL Database backup. You can upload these in Files › Backup.
- To move the whole account to another cPanel server: use a Full Backup.
Note: Delete old backup archives from your home directory after downloading them, because they count towards your disk quota.
