How to Install Pagekit CMS on Debian 9?

Debian 9 is end of life.

Pagekit is no longer maintained (its last release was 1.0.18 in January 2020 and the project was archived in 2022). It receives no security fixes and may not run on current PHP versions, so we do not recommend installing it on a server connected to the internet.

Alternatives

• Grav: a modern flat-file CMS with a clean admin panel.
• October CMS or Craft CMS for custom sites built on modern PHP frameworks.
• WordPress or Joomla when you need many ready-made themes and plugins.

Export your Pagekit pages and blog posts, recreate them in the new system, and add 301 redirects from the old addresses.

Moving to another application safely

1. Back up the old application's files and database, and keep the backup until the new system has run for a while.
2. Install the new application on a test subdomain first (for example new.example.com) and import your data there.
3. Check the imported data and set up users and permissions.
4. Switch the domain to the new application, and add 301 redirects for old addresses that change.
5. Remove the old application from the server so it cannot be attacked later.
