Debian 8/9 are end of life. The Zabbix agent runs on each monitored server and sends data to your Zabbix server. Use the agent version that matches your server (7.0 LTS in these examples); Zabbix agent 2 is the recommended agent.
Add the Zabbix repository

Install and configure
apt install zabbix-agent2 # or: dnf install zabbix-agent2
In /etc/zabbix/zabbix_agent2.conf set:
Server=192.0.2.50 # Zabbix server allowed to query (passive checks) ServerActive=192.0.2.50 # Zabbix server for active checks Hostname=web1.example.com # must match the host name in the Zabbix frontend
systemctl enable --now zabbix-agent2 ufw allow from 192.0.2.50 to any port 10050 proto tcp
Add the host in Zabbix
In the Zabbix frontend, Data collection › Hosts › Create host, enter the same host name, add an agent interface with the server's IP, and link the template Linux by Zabbix agent.
