Zend Optimizer cannot be installed on current PHP: it only supported PHP 5.2 and older. Its job, speeding up PHP by caching compiled code, is now done by OPcache, which is built into PHP.

Enable OPcache instead

  • cPanel servers: enable php-opcache in WHM › Software › EasyApache 4 › PHP Extensions (for example dnf install ea-php83-php-opcache).
  • CloudLinux servers: tick opcache in Software › Select PHP Version.
  • Other servers: install php-opcache and restart PHP.

Scripts encoded for Zend Guard need the vendor's updated version; use ionCube-encoded or unencoded versions on current PHP.
