Updated: 28 September 2026 · Applies to: cPanel & WHM 138 (WHM, root access)

Suspending a cPanel account temporarily blocks its websites, email and logins without deleting anything, for example for unpaid invoices or abuse.

Suspend

  1. Log in to WHM as root (https://your-server:2087).
  2. Open Account Functions › Manage Account Suspension.
  3. Select the account and enter a Reason (only administrators see it).
  4. Optionally tick the option that stops the account owner (or a reseller) from unsuspending it.
  5. Click Suspend.

Unsuspend

Select the account on the same page and click Unsuspend. Everything works again straight away.

From the command line: /usr/local/cpanel/scripts/suspendacct USERNAME "reason" and /usr/local/cpanel/scripts/unsuspendacct USERNAME.
