NIXI (National Internet Exchange of India), the registry for .IN, .CO.IN, .NET.IN, .ORG.IN, and .BHARAT domains, requires domain registrants to complete Email Verification and eKYC.

Domain registrants who receive a verification request are required to complete both Email Verification and eKYC within 90 days of receiving the mail.

What should you need to complete?

You need to complete:

1. Email Verification
2. eKYC Verification

Both are mandatory for the domain verification process.

How to Complete the Verification?

1. Complete Email Verification

Open the verification email sent to the registrant's email address and follow the instructions provided to verify the email address.

2. Complete eKYC Verification

The eKYC process is initiated through Digio and uses DigiLocker for Aadhaar verification.

Steps:

  1. Open the eKYC verification link provided in the verification email.
  2. On the Digio page, verify the registrant contact number using the OTP received on the registered mobile number.
  3. You will then be redirected to DigiLocker for Aadhaar verification.
  4. Enter your 12-digit Aadhaar number and the OTP sent to your Aadhaar-linked mobile number.
  5. If prompted, enter your DigiLocker Security PIN.
  6. Select Aadhaar from the available documents, review the details, and click Allow to share your Aadhaar details.

Once these steps are completed, the eKYC verification will be submitted for processing.
The updated domain status may take 24–48 hours to appear in the control panel.

FAQs:

1. Is eKYC required for every .IN domain?

eKYC is required after certain domain actions, including:

  • Registering a domain
  • Renewing a domain
  • Transferring a domain
  • Updating the registrant contact details
  • Moving the domain to another customer account

A verification email will be sent to the registrant email address associated with the domain.

2. Can I complete eKYC if I am not an Indian registrant?

No. eKYC does not apply to non-Indian registrants.

3. Can I complete eKYC for a company-registered .IN domain?

Yes. The Aadhaar used for eKYC does not need to belong to the company owner or match the company/organization name associated with the domain. Any individual managing the domain on behalf of the company or organization can complete eKYC.

4. Will I receive separate emails for Email Verification and eKYC?

No. A single verification email is sent to the registrant email address associated with the domain. It contains both:

  • The Email Verification link
  • The eKYC verification link

5. Do I need to complete Email Verification before eKYC?

Yes. Complete Email Verification first. Once the email address is verified, use the eKYC link provided in the same verification email to complete the eKYC process.

6. Does the registrant contact number need to match the Aadhaar-linked mobile number?

No. The eKYC process uses two separate mobile numbers:

  • The registrant's contact number receives the OTP on the Digio page.
  • The Aadhaar-linked mobile number receives the OTP on DigiLocker.

These numbers can be different.

7. How long is the verification link valid?

Only the most recently generated verification link is valid. If a new verification email is generated, any previously sent verification link becomes invalid.

8. Will I receive verification reminders?

Yes. Reminder emails are sent every 5 days until the required verification is completed or the verification period expires.

9. Does moving my .IN domain to another customer account trigger eKYC again?

Yes. Moving an .IN, .3rd-level .IN, or .BHARAT domain to another customer account triggers the verification process again. You must complete eKYC after the move is completed.

10. Do I need to complete eKYC again after renewing my .IN domain?

Yes. eKYC must be completed each time the verification process is triggered, including after a domain renewal. If verification is required after renewal, you must complete it within the specified timeframe.

11. My .IN domain is suspended. How can I restore it?

Complete the required Email Verification and eKYC. The suspension will be removed automatically after successful verification.

12. How can I resend the Email Verification and eKYC email?

Feel free to contact us to Resend Email.
A new verification email will be sent to the registrant email address.

Please use the link from the most recently generated verification email, as previously generated links will no longer be valid.
