A common reason for such yum failure is that libxml2 or zlib was installed from source code.

Please, check /usr/local/lib/ directory for the files like: libz* or libxml2*

If you have such files, remove all of them, and run ldconfig, yum should start working after that. 

The issue happens mostly on DirectAdmin server, where custom libz/libxml2 files are placed there.
