Step 1

The first step is to log in to your cPanel account. Open your favourite browser and type in https://yourdomainname.com/cpanel. Enter your username and password and click log in.

Step 2

Next, click on your username on the right top corner of the screen and select Contact Information from the drop-down menu.

Once on this page, take the time to read through all the information provided so neatly by cPanel.

In the first two fields, enter a primary and secondary Email address. These are used to recover passwords or send you notifications about your cPanel account. Make note of the fact that none of these Email addresses should be domain Emails.

The third field is optional and it requires an access token for Pushbullet. This is a digital validation code which allows Pushbullet to connect your website with a smartphone or smart device and “push” notifications. It acts similar to a messaging application. It uses a combination of API features and second authentication and it might be a useful feature. You can leave this field blank if you’re not ready to implement this right now.

The next section of the contact information and preferences page enumerates exactly the types of Email notification you can receive. They are very straight forward and easy to understand. Most of them are useful and we recommend you additionally check the SSL Certificate expiry. This is a very important part of your domain which you should monitor closely.

After you’ve filled out all the information and decided on the notifications, click Save, lay back and rest easy knowing that your cPanel account is safe and sound.
