It started as the smallest kind of task. We needed one number for the radio hosting pages on our own website: roughly how many hours of real listening had happened on our servers, something true enough to put next to a plan price. We expected a modest figure, a quick lookup, one sentence, done.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first server we checked, on its own, had logged over 1.7 million hours. We checked a second. Then a third. By the time we had queried our entire current Centova Cast fleet, the running total had gone past 38 million hours, and the question changed from “what’s the number” to “how do we say that honestly, without it sounding bigger than it actually is”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Where a number like that even comes from<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Centova Cast, the panel behind most of our shared and reseller radio hosting, keeps its own internal listener log: an hourly record of how many people were connected to each station and for how long, going back to the day that server first went into service. We did not estimate from plan sizes or guess from average server load, the kind of shortcut that produces a tidy but made-up number. We opened the panel’s own table, called hourlystats, and summed it, server by server, exactly as it had already been recording for years without anyone asking it to prove anything.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here is the real shape of it, without turning it into a server-by-server roll call: the busiest single server in that fleet had logged 9,656,684 hours entirely on its own, the quietest was still carrying just under 1.8 million, and every server in between filled in the rest. Add the whole current Centova Cast fleet together and the total comes to 38,738,084 listener-hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some of those hours belong to stations streaming right now. A good share belong to stations that stopped years ago. Centova Cast does not clear a station’s listening history just because the account that ran it was closed, so what we were actually looking at was more like a record of every real song and every real broadcast that this fleet has quietly carried since each server switched on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We ran these queries on 3 November 2026 at 15:37 UTC, and we are leaving that timestamp here on purpose. This is a snapshot, not a running counter, and by the time you read this the real total on this same fleet will already be a little higher than what is written above.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One slice of a much larger operation<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This is only our current shared and reseller Centova Cast fleet, one radio product among several we run side by side. We also run SonicPanel hosting and a growing AzuraCast lineup, and none of that is anywhere in the 38.7 million figure above.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This measurement only tells part of the story, too. Centova Cast and SonicPanel both support reseller accounts, which let other radio hosting brands run their own storefront on top of our infrastructure. A station hosted that way logs into the same servers and the same hourlystats table we queried for this post, so its listening time is already counted in the 38.7 million above, it just arrives under someone else’s name. These servers and the 38.7 million hours are real, measured, and ours to show. They are also only the part of our radio hosting, under any name, that still runs on a panel we can log into and query directly today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
